We are still in our life cycle unit. We have started learning about butterflies and their life cycle.
On Tuesday we read a book and answered questions about the butterflies. Students practiced working together as a team to answer questions. They had to reference the text and use text features.

Vocabulary Parade Mix-up

A few people have had questions about the parade. The planning sheet had the original date on it which has now changed.
The vocabulary parade will be on April 16th. It is a school wide project.
Please bring the costume to school on Monday the 15th so we can practice for the parade.
We are so excited about this project and can’t wait to see all of the creative costumes!!

We are so excited to have 20 little chicken eggs in our incubator. We have begun our life cycle unit and will be looking at chicks, butterflies, frogs and various other animal life cycles.
Please talk to your child about our embryology project. I’m sure they will be excited to tell you aaall about it!

– we will be sharing our biography projects! The students are working so hard on this and are very excited!

Sugar Rush!

Thank you so much to all of my wonderful students and parents for my Valentine’s gifts!
We have all had plenty of sugar today!

We have gotten scores back from the Case21 benchmark tests. I was pleased that many students grew. I will be talking with students and showing them how their August scores compare to their January scores. We all need to continue to practice skills from school at home as well.

Aesop’s Actors

We have been studying the classic Aesop’s fables. We are focusing on the lesson told in each fable. We are also practicing our summarizing skills.
We decided to have some fun and act them out in charade form: no words! The audience guessed which fable was being acted out.

Glad to be back!

We are so excited to be back in school working so hard. We had our SRI test on Monday and most everyone improved their score. Yaay!
We will be doing reading assessments as well as case 21 benchmarks in the coming weeks. Please continue to not only read with your child but to ask them questions about what they are reading.
We are enjoying our fairytale unit. We have been comparing different fairytales from all over the world.
